Pericos is a well-known family restaurant, now with two locations, in San Antonio. We were hired in August of 2005 to run a campaign for the next six months to help drive more traffic to the restaurant during slower times, such as back-to-school and the end-of-year holiday season. With a focus on the lunch and To-Go areas, we started by developing a unique tagline, "Because Life Tastes Better With Salsa," and an icon of a parrot to help brand Pericos. To go with the new brand, we also launched a new, interactive website. New functions included a "Special of the Week" area where the restaurant can promote new dishes or drink specials; a "Kid's Corner," where kids can download a coloring page with Pablo Perico; and a "Join Our Mialing List" feature that resulted in the creation of a large promotional database.
We also took the time to develop a menu that will make anyone hungry by putting an emphasis on the photography. In fact, they looked so good that many of the dishes photographed for the menu quickly became best-sellers.
The lunch promotions began by creating a special logo and tagline for the lunch audience: "Mas Food. Mas Fun. Mas Delicioso." The Pericos Lunch special promos we branded with their own logo on table tents, fish bowl promos, T-shirts and e-mail blasts to subscribers. We even personally handed out fliers with discount coupons to hungry workers within a half-mile of the Bandera restaurant to convince them to visit Pericos.
The results were fabuloso! Lunchtime was at capacity before long, and To-Go orders were rolling in. The campaign was a huge success!
